Berkant’s “Arabam Kırıldı” Story
Few moments better capture the glorious chaos of Turkish football Turkish than German-Turk Berkant Goktan arriving late to training, sweating, panicking, and visibly traumatised.
Naturally, teammates assumed disaster.
“Ne oldu?”
Berkant, struggling heroically with the language, finally delivered his explanation:
“Arabam kırıldı.” – which literally means “My car was broken.” – Not crashed. Not damaged. Not stolen. Broken. Like a biscuit.
The dressing room spent the next ten minutes trying to decipher whether he’d had an accident or accidentally folded a BMW in half with his bare hands.
